Itinerary

Day 1, Day 2, Day 3

We will Leave Chengdu on day 1 at 10:25 pm on a sleeper train to Lhasa.
Day 2 Continue through the mountain ranges of Tibet experiencing the landscape changes from subtropical to the high Himalayan mountain.. Highest peak is 7,162 meters (23,500 feet). On day 3 we will arrive in Lhasa at 5:30 pm at the hotel for dinner. The train ride will take two days. It will give us time to get acquainted and get us gradually acclimated before we arrive at the holy city, Lhasa (3650 m).
We will have yoga and healing art practices on the train while we are enjoy our scenic ride.

Day 04 Potala Palace

We will visit Potala Palace, which was originally constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet, and later expanded and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas as well as the religious-political nexus of traditional Tibet.

Day 05 Jokhang Temple

We will visit Jokhang temple, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the bustling Barkhor Market place which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa where we will spend lots of time to stroll around and shop a lot for sure.

Day 06 Yamdrok Lake and Yampacheng grassland

Yamdrok Lake: On the old road between Gyanste and Lhasa, dazzling Yamdrok lake can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la (4794m). The lake lies several hundred meters below the road, and in clear weather is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. Far in the distance is the huge massive of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7191m). We will be the sacred mountain site to have ceremony and meditation/contemplation. (4 hours bus ride). The beautiful clear lake and fresh air fill the body with prana and life.

Day 07 Namtso Lake

Namtso Lake: Namtso, approximately 190km north-west of Lhasa, is the second-largest saltwater lake in China. It is over 70km long and reaches a width of 30km. The Nyenchen Tangula range, with peaks of more than 7000m, towers over the lake to the south. Namtso is a tidal lake and the ring marks of earlier lake levels are clearly visible by the shoreline. In clear weather the water is a miraculous shade of turquoise and there are magnificent views of the nearby mountains. The wide open spaces, dotted with tents of local nomads, are intoxicating.

We will have ceremony and meditation/contemplation there (a long bus ride but worthy of going). Namtso Lake, the highest lake of its size in the world and considered to be one of the sacred lakes in Tibet. No boat or bathing is allowed on the lake. It keeps pure and sacred. We will have an opportunity to meditate by the lake and a possibility to listen to monks chanting in a cave under the cliffs by the lake.

Day 08 Aerial Burying site or Drepung Monastery

We will visit an aerial burying site. It will be a rare opportunity for us to witness
The Tibetan way of living dead. It will be contingent upon discretion of the sacred site.
Or Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, about 8km west of central Lhasa is the Drepung, once world’s largest monastery with about 10,000 monks. This day’s sightseeing begins with these white monastic buildings piled up on the hillside. Walking up to the hill is a pleasant thing, an easy break from the solemn ambience inside the halls and chapels. At the plat roof of hillside, you can have very good views of the whole Lhasa city and the distant mountains. Drepung is one of Lhasa’s two great Gelugpa monasteries, the other is Sera. Around 5km north of central Lhasa, Sera may not be as grandiose as Drepung, but is more serene surrounded by many small temples. The ‘Buddhism Scriptures Debating’ in Sera is very famous.

Day 09 Buddhist Tantra Temple or Shopping day

Visit Tibetan Buddhist Tantra Temple and enjoy the last day shopping and relaxing in the holy city, Lhasa.

Day 10 Lhasa-Gandan Monasery-Basomtso Lake.

Travel to Tibetan Frontier and visit scenic and sacred sites as considered Tibet “Switzerland View”. Drive about one and half hours to get to Gandan Monastery for a visit. It is the first Gelugpa monastery. After visit, onward to BasomtsoLake for 370km on a well paved road, taking 5 hours. Basomtso Lake, 3,500 meters above sea level, originates from Nyching Tanglha Mountain and is a dozen kilometers long. Snow-covered mountains, glaciers and tress are reflected upon the lake’s rippled surface. There are small islands in the middle of the lake with Lamaist temples built upon them.

Day 11 Basomtso Lake-Bayi.

Visit Basomtso Lake and enjoy the beautiful views there in the whole morning. And then leave for BayiTown, the capital of Nyingchi area. And then continue driving about 2 hours to get to Bayi. Upon arrival there, visit a huge cypress tree of over thousand years old. Rest time you can stroll in the city for the modern city in East Tibet.

Clayton hails from Austin, Texas. He began daily practice in 2004 after he underwent a major surgery and turned to Yoga for healing. He began to study Ashtanga Vinyasa as taught by Sri K. Pattahbi Jois. and at once began to experience the immense physical, mental and spiritual benefits of Yoga. From that time on he devoted himself to full time study and practice.

Eager to learn about Classical Yoga Clayton joined Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers and undertook a formal course of study. He certified through the Sivananda Teachers Training program in Grass Valley, CA in 2007 and completed advanced training in 2008. While on staff at the Yoga Farm he studied directly under Swami Sitaramananda and made annual trips with her to teach Yoga in Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Clayton served as the main Hatha Yoga teacher at the ashram for 2 years and was an assistant teacher in Yoga Teachers Training Courses in California and in Vietnam.

Clayton’s love of travel also led him to Central America where he taught Sivananda and Ashtanga Vinyasa on Lago Atitlan in Guatemala. While there he joined Sadhana Yoga, completed the Mystical Yoga Teacher Training at SYI 800 and assisted instructing a 200-hour level Teacher Training with Vedantin as an assistant facilitator (SYI 1000) in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. He currently teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa at Yoga Yoga in Austin, Texas. Clayton has attended workshops with David Williams, Nancy Gilgoff, and most recently studied with Elena Figarola at the Ashtanga Yoga Shala Barcelona.

The classical teaching is that Yoga is a practice of quieting of the mind. When the breath is steady the mind will be still. Clayton guides classes by the rhythm of the inhalation and exhalation so that students experience this ancient wisdom. By integrating fluid movement and meditative awareness with breath, we move towards the Union of body, consciousness and Spirit that is the promise of Yoga.

Ananda (CJ Page) – Co-Founder of Present Moment Retreat and RYT 500 is a renowned teacher of yoga, dance and meditation. She has combined her joy of these self-healing therapies with her experience as a wellness coach and healing practitioner to create international retreats and trainings. Ananda offers Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Trainings with YogaSchool Institute, giving each person the heartfelt attention and direct facilitation that cultivates an ecstatic, healing and Magical experience.

Integrating her teachings and passions, Ananda has developed The Magnetic Movement, a system of intentional-based healing that draws on the philosophy that we are all a part of this magnetic energy that is driving us towards greater consciousness. By exploring our gifts and expanding our relationship with higher self, we come into alignment with our inner purpose of Awakening. Through our collaborative efforts and unified intentions, we magnify the richness of this life’s experience.

Ananda currently lives in Troncones, Mexico, the home of Present Moment Retreat, where she holds sacred space for individuals and groups as they journey toward Self Realization and Oneness. She suggests that as we step up to the Essence of who we are within, we are connected to the Wholeness of all that is. Ananda believes that we are each here to expand into the greatness of who we are and to serve all beings in our highest capacity. She is inspired to inspire… and to continue this journey moment to moment, breath to breath.

There is no moment other than this Present Moment.
